What are the characteristics of a “super kid”? This is a child that likes and loves themselves, a child that takes responsibility for their thoughts and actions, and a child that understands they are (and become) what they “will” to be.

A super kid extends this self liking and self love to others, the parents, teachers and other adults around them, and especially their friends. Super kids aren’t born, they emerge from the cocoon of life in the closely knit family that extends to classroom and larger community.

They have self-confidence born from experiences of being loved unconditionally and valued, not for what they do but simply because they are. They extend this understanding of self liking and self worth to others with empathy and as a result contribute to the greater good.

Super kids are fearless. They are not afraid to try because they understand that it is through mistakes that we grow and learn. They use mistakes to their benefit without any fear of failure. They understand that the only failure is to give up—so not giving up means not to fail.

They also extend this to others, knowing that people are human, and make mistakes, and this in no way affects a person’s value.

Super kids have confidence in themselves and their connection with this abundant universe. They know they attract into their lives what they think about, so they never worry (that’s negative goal setting). They have confidence in their ability to attract into their lives the very things and situations that make them (and others around them) happy—first through their thinking and next through right action. And they meet the challenges of life with this unbridled optimism and belief that the world is good and their lives are meant to be abundant, happy and fulfilled.

One last thing, kids don’t get there automatically, and to guide someone to this level of maturity we must know the way (have it ourselves)—so for some, there may be a bit of personal growth in the process. That is, raising a super kid will make you a super parent. So let’s get started.
